I can think of a million things I would rather be doing right now. My 4 y/o is asleep on the living room rug & my 8 y/o gets out of school in 40 minutes. This is my pocket of free time. No one needs me...but my to do list is a mile long.
I am starting this blog to help me become more disciplined about doing something for myself. A creative outlet and an opportunity to journal some of this amazing life I am a part of.
So, let's talk about pockets. I love 'em. I have a summer skirt. Can't say it's my favorite....kind of a dull floral knee-length a-line thing...but I love it because it has pockets. I get giddy when I put it on and mid way through my morning realize (or remember) that the skirt has pockets. Now...finally....I have somewhere to put my keys when I get to the market....! I'm easy to please, what can I say. My daughter loves pockets too. Her uniform jumper has one pocket. Everyday I empty it out and laugh at the contents. She picks up and saves little treasures she find during her day. Bits of erasers, anything small and metal, leaves, bird feathers, coins...you name it. It's lovely & sweet to discover. Her pocket is her little treasure chest.
My days are filled with a lot of little pockets of time. 20 minutes between school drop offs, 3 whole hours until the first school pick up, then another few minutes until husband comes home for lunch, then another hour before the next school pickup. Small amounts of time to be productive, do laundry, run errands that are easier to run without children in tow, and sometimes do something just for myself. It requires being very organized and keeping good lists (I can get in and out of the market in 1/2 hour with a full weeks worth of groceries....yeah, that organized.....it works), and knowing what to spend those pockets of time doing.
Let's see if I can find some pockets of time to write here a few times a week about random life.
